The ongoing pandemic has been hard for us - both as an individual and as a country. People and families have suffered due to lack of work, especially the daily wage labourers. However, during this phase we have also come across several inspiring instances where people fought back the adversities and came across as winners. One such story is of this young woman from Hyderabad - Mamidipelly Rachana. Daughter of a daily wager labourer from Telangana's Warangal district, Rachana initially came to Hyderabad to pursue her studies in Hotel Management. Besides her studies, she also used to deliver milk door-to-door in order to make ends meet.

"I studied for free till Class 12 in a government school. I had a very strong will to continue further studies and with the advice of my schoolteachers, I was able to get admission in a Hotel Management Diploma course in Hyderabad," Rachana told ANI. She further stated that initially she took up a job at a milk shop where she used to get up at 4am to distribute milk and then attend classes.

However, when the COVID-19 pandemic struck, Rachana decided to stand by her family and took up the food delivery job, which is usually being done by men. "I came to know about this job in online food delivery platforms and was able to join in as a food delivery executive," she said.

And since then, Rachana has been working as a food delivery executive and is managing her family, studies and expenses, all by herself.

When asked about her future plans, Rachana said that as soon as she completes her Hotel Management course, she will undergo training and get a permanent job for herself. "I did this all for myself and to make sure my parents have a better life," she added.
