And one more thing that hostels are great at teaching us is the value of home-cooked food. Hostel food can be bland and boring, which is why hostellers crave home-cooked food so much. Recently, one such story of a girl's special request to her father after returning from hostel after 5 months is doing the rounds on the internet and netizens can totally relate.

Twitter user Shwetank shared a screenshot of his conversation with his daughter on the micro-blogging platform. She sent him an entire menu of dishes that she wants to eat on the day she arrives home from hostel. From fish tikka, mutton biryani to Nutella cheesecake, the menu has all of it! All the dishes are non-vegetarian as her hostel only serves vegetarian food. "Daughter is coming home on the 16th evening after 5 months. Hostel (and hers is a 'vaishnav' one) really makes kids bhukkad-bhikhari!" reads the caption of the post. Take a look:
The post has amassed 129 likes and several comments after being shared. Many people have shared how they receive similar demands from their children in the comments section. One user said, "My daughter, although married with an 8 yr old son and running her own nice full kitchen, still sends me such long lists. Now her husband's and kid's wish list is also added on to her own."
Another person shared his experience, "My son (23) coming from the US, strange that he wants this home-cooked - cooked Vegetables without Potato, Karela, Baigan Bharta, Bhindi, Gobi, Green Veggies."
"Glad to know I am not the only one who does this," said a third user.
"Yeh kya attitude hai!!! (What is this attitude) If I tried this stunt with my mom or grandmother, chappals (slippers) would fly in my direction," added another user.
