National Milk Day was found in the year 2014 by the Food and Agriculture Organisation to honour Dr. Verghese Kurien, who is known as the father of India's White Revolution. The day coincides with the birth anniversary of Dr. Verghese Kurien, who played a significant part in revolutionising India's dairy production, making it the largest producer of milk in the world.
