Roast makhana in 1tbsp ghee till it turns crispy and brown. It should take 2-3 minutes only. Let it cool down and pulse it a couple of times in a grinder to make coarse, grainy powder. Dry roast desiccated coconut for one minute and add to the makhana powder. Flavour it with some cardamom powder and roast the mixture again for a minute in sugar syrup. Then, just transfer the whole barfi mixture into a greased tray and let it cool for just 5 minutes. Decorate it with silver leaf/varkh and garnish with dry fruits or grated coconut and cut into katli shaped barfis.

You can even store this makhana barfi in an air tight box for up to one month and enjoy it during other occasions like Ganesh Chaturthi.
