Moong dal chaat is quite easy to rustle up along with common and healthy foods like low-cal cucumber, pomegranate, onion and tomatoes. Coriander leaves and lemon juice add zing to the chaat and garnishing of sev tops it with some delectable crunch. Make this yummy moong dal snack for evening meal or for your guests coming over. Pomegranate adds a touch of sweetness and a fruity flavor while cucumber adds a whole lot of freshness to it. You just have to boil dal in advance and rest of the process is a cakewalk.

Moong dal chaat recipe:
(Serving: 2)
Ingredients:
1/4 cup yellow moong dal
2-3 tbsp pomegranate pearls
1 green chilli, finely chopped
1 small onion (or half medium onion), chopped
1 tomato, chopped
1/4 cup cucumber, cubed
Juice of half lemon
1 tsp chaat masala
Salt to taste
Sev for garnishing (optional)
Coriander leaves for garnishing
Method:
Step 1 - Soak moong dal in water for at least half an hour. Drain water.
Step 2 - Boil soaked dal in 2 cups of water till almost cooked. Make sure that dal is not too mushy and has a little crunch left.
Step 3 - Strain water and let the dal cool down to room temperature.
Step 4 - Mix dal with onion, tomato, pomegranate, green chilli and cucumber in a bowl. Flavour it with salt, lemon juice and chaat masala. Garnish with coriander leaves and sev, and serve. You can also sprinkle some red chilli powder for little more spiciness.
