Winter has many upsides - you can stay in your quilts for long and people around the world would sympathise. You can hide your belly bulge inside your baggy sweatshirts, and you are hardly sweating. However, there are some downsides to the weather too, our skin, for instance, is never in the best shape. It is either too dry, or dull or reddish or itchy. You can go for the most expensive skincare products, but many times, the results are not satisfactory. It is a very good call if you have resolved to eat wisely for the sake of your skin, but while you are at it, there are some diet mistakes you must avoid as well. Here are 6 you can begin with.

1. Not Eating Greens
Winter comes loaded with a gamut of greens, like methi, spinach, bathua and mustard greens (or sarso as we know it). They are all replete with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. Antioxidants like vitamin C, help fight free radical activity that causes oxidative damage to the cells, making your skin dull and wrinkly. Vitamin C also helps boost production of collagen.

2. Not Hydrating
Winter or summer, you have to keep yourself hydrated or your skin starts to seem very dry and parched. Drinking water helps maintain the elasticity of your skin, and while it is true that you do not feel very thirsty during winter, but you have no choice. If the plain taste of water bores you, you could try winter special smoothies.

3. Not Eating Nuts
Nuts like almond, walnuts and pistachio are used in a range of winter preparations like panjiri and ladoo not only keep you warm and immune, but they also happen to be an excellent source of vitamin E and omega 3 fatty acids, both of which very crucial for taut and radiant skin.

4. Eating The Salads The Wrong Way
Think salads are just assembling a bunch of greens and eat, you cannot be further from the truth. Adding fried bits of bacon, or fattening dressings could be a deal-breaker for your skin. Processed foods are said to be detrimental for the skin as well as your overall health.

5. Making Soups The Wrong Way
Soups and winter go hand-in-hand, right? A well-made soup could work as an instant pick-me-up in this biting cold. It is a good idea to opt for clear soup instead of thick, creamy ones. Add more seasonal veggies and less of fried croutons.

6. Not Eating A Combination of Fruits
