Currently, the world is obsessed with superfoods. These are nothing but foods that are really high in nutritional value. Nevertheless, the latest food trend is to include rare, western nutritional foods, which have recently traversed through our cuisine. Quinoa, kale, avocado and other such foods have suddenly become a rage and we all want to try them out. Suddenly, avocado toast has become almost a breakfast staple in many households. Its paste-like texture and creamy taste makes avocado a healthy alternative to mayonnaise, sandwich spread and cheese. But, that's not the only reason why avocado is so popular in India now.

Avocado is one of the most nutritious fruits. It is rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. It contains a good amount of vitamins C, E, K, and minerals like potassium and magnesium. The fruit is also said to be good for heart health and smooth digestion. Although, avocado has been a common food in western diets, our palates are not wired to accept its bland taste. Avocados are a rich source of vitamins and fibre
 


 Recipe Of Avocado Chaat
 

Serves - 4 people

Ingredients:

2 avocados
1 onion, chopped
1 tomato, chopped
Sev - half cup
Coriander leaves for garnish
Salt to taste
Chaat masala - 2 teaspoons
Juice of 1 lemon
1 green chilli, finely chopped
1 tablespoon sweet chutney (saunth)

Method -

Cut the avocados horizontally into two haves without peeling it. Scoop out the avocado from each avocado cup.

With the help of a fork, mash avocado to make a smooth paste.

In a bowl, combine avocado, onion, tomato, green chilli, lime juice, salt, chaat masala and mix well.

Fill the empty avocado shells again with chaat mixture. With the back of a spoon or flat spatula, press and flatten the upper layer of the mixture so that it stays inside the avocado cup.

Place all the four cups together on a plate. Garnish with lots of sev and coriander leaves, and serve.
