Dairy products require careful packaging and storage or there could be a risk of spoilage. On July 17, 2024, an X (formerly Twitter) user expressed his disappointment with the Amul protein buttermilk carton he had ordered from the "Amul website". As shown in the photos and videos posted by the X user, Gajender Yadav (@imYadav31), the packaging was filled with multiple tiny white worms. The customer added, "Almost half of the packets were opened/torn and buttermilk was already rotten. Extremely bad smell was coming from the buttermilk." The post has gone viral on social media. Amul has responded and apologized for the same.

Raising the complaint, the user wrote, "Stop Buying products from @Amul_Coop website. Hey, Amul you have sent us WORMS along with your protein buttermilk. I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction after discovering worms in the buttermilk I purchased recently. This experience was incredibly disappointing and has raised serious concerns about the quality and safety of your products," adding, "I would appreciate your prompt attention to this matter so that other customers can be saved from this. Kindly rectify the matter."

Sharing screenshots of an email complaint, he wrote, "I have sent an email as well attaching all evidence and asked them to collect by today for their testing. I don't want any false accusation from @Amul_Coop later."

Amul responded to the complaint, issuing a refund and apologising for their mistake. "Someone from the Amul Kanpur team called and apologized for this. They are issuing a refund and were sending the product again. I have said NO FOR REPLACEMENT. They have accepted their mistake and asked me to throw these boxes. As per them, they are putting things on the dispatching team. He said dispatching for (the product) was delayed and that might have affected this. For your information ORDER WAS DELIVERED IN 10 DAYS.....my question is why did they take so much time.....why did this situation arise.....who will be responsible if something happens to the customer because of their negligence."

They have checked the timeline and as per them.....this happened because of a delay from their logistics team/partner. They have assured me that they are taking this incident very seriously."
