Recently, a post by a woman in Noida claiming that she found a centipede inside an Amul ice cream tub took the internet by storm. She shared a photo of the item on X and wrote, "Finding an insect inside my @Amul India ice cream was truly alarming. Quality control and food safety should never be compromised. @FSSAI Publication have to take some legal action on such kind of incidents they are increasing in numbers day by day."As per PTI, food safety officials in Noida have launched a probe into the matter.

The official Customer Care account of Amul responded to the X post saying, "Request you to kindly DM us your address and phone number. Our team will contact you." On June 17, 2024, the brand issued a detailed statement. Amul said, it "deeply regrets the inconvenience caused" to the customer because of this incident". As per the statement, brand officials got hold of her contact number at 3:43 pm on June 15.
In the statement, the brand said, "The Amul team was trying to contact the customer continuously and was allowed to meet after 9:30 pm on the same day, despite numerous interviews given by the customer to the media in the same period. During the interaction, the customer was informed and assured about Amul's state-of-the-art ISO-certified plants which are automated and pass through numerous stringent quality checks before offering any product for sale to the esteemed customers. We also invited the customer to visit our plant to assure them about the quality processes being followed at the manufacturing plants."

The brand said that it requested the customer to give them the ice cream tub in question for investigation. However, "the customer refused to hand over the same. Unless the complaint pack is retrieved from the customer it would be difficult for us to investigate the matter and hence comment specifically on the issue which involves pack and supply chain integrity as well" the statement read. The brand also said it would "investigate the matter from all angles and again get back to our customers with the findings" after it receives the ice cream tub for analysis.
