One of the reasons for the popularity is the nutrient profile. However, over the years, we have seen people eliminating dairy from their diet. Ever wonder why? While some are lactose intolerant, some do it for social reasons. Then there are people who give up on milk to benefit overall health. Nutritionist Rashi Chowdhary explains, "Dairy is deadly! I know it sounds extreme, but honestly, it's time to realise that we are not living like how we used to live 50 years ago." Sounds surprising? Let us elucidate further.

Why Do Experts Suggest Eliminating Dairy From Daily Diet?

Rashi Chowdhary recently took to Instagram to mention, the commercially available milk today is loaded with antibiotics, growth hormones, oestrogen and other compounds. This further leads to health issues including PCOS, irregular menstrual cycle and more.

A PETA report weighs in, "Milk that is not properly prepared or chilled may contain bacteria that can make people sick." The organisation further mentions that unlike popular belief, cow or buffalo milk is not healthy - it can make people sick or weaken their bones.

A research, conducted by the Consumer Guidance Society of India, found that there are high quantities of contaminants in the milk we get today "including antibiotics, aflatoxins, pesticide residues, pus chemical" and more.

Rashi Chowdhary further enlisted the three most common problems that people face today, after the consumption of milk. Take a look.

1. Affects Calcium Content In the Body:

Some studies show milk actually doesn't help add calcium to the body. In fact, it works negatively on the body. Basically, protein from milk is broken down it produces acid. To neutralise and flush out the excess acid, our body leaches calcium. For the unversed, calcium is known to be an excellent neutraliser.

2. Affects Bone Health:

A large-scale Harvard study found no evidence that drinking milk has any effect on healthy bones. In fact, flushing out of calcium works negatively on the bones.

3. Causes Acne:

The growth hormones in milk cause inflammation. This further clogs pores and triggers acne.

4. Increases Chance Of PCOS:

Women with PCOS struggle with insulin resistance in the body. And having a surge in insulin through dairy can increase your carb cravings and testosterone levels.

5. Hormonal Imbalance:

Dairy increases the cortisol levels in the body which may contribute to increased anxiety, hair fall and facial hair.

Considering it all, Nutritionist Rashi Chowdhary suggests, one can reduce consumption of milk, if not eliminate it completely, to benefit overall health.
