For us, chai isn't just about the drink but the bond shared while sipping the comforting brew. The moment unexpected guests arrive at home, the first thing we ask them is, "How about some chai?" In situations like these, don't we wish that we could quickly whip up many cups of tea in a short while? A woman has recently set a new record for most cups of tea made in an hour - and it is indeed a praiseworthy and extraordinary feat! The record was set by Ingar Valentyn from Wupperthal, South Africa. She decided to take on the challenge of making the locally produced indigenous tea called 'rooibos' to give a boost to travel and tourism in the country. This was after a devastating wildfire destroyed the homes of 200 people in the hometown in December 2018, as per Guinness World Records. "For me to attempt the record will open many doors for the community, in terms of tourism and in terms of the rooibos tea, because we have many rooibos tea farmers," she said.

The rooibos tea is a red herbal tea that is derived from the leaves of a shrub named Aspalathus Linearis that is found in South Africa. Ingar Valentyn used three flavours of the tea in making the record - vanilla, strawberry and original. The record required Ingar to make at least 150 cups of tea in an hour. She used an efficient strategy of putting four tea bags in a teapot and steeped them for two minutes each. Then, she poured out the tea into four cups and immediately started brewing the next batch. Local students helped in consuming the tea and also washing the dirty cups that were needed for the next lot. Thus, Ingar managed to make a total of 249 cups of tea in an hour, or over four cups every minute!

This is not the only food-related record that has been set in the recent past. Previously, Guinness World Records had shared a clip of the world's most expensive grilled cheese sandwich. The exquisite delicacy is exorbitantly priced at USD 214 or nearly Rs. 17,630. Take a look:
