Since the past few years, the food world has seen innovations that have changed the way we think about food and drinks. From the use of simple of ingredients to the modern techniques of cooking, food has come a long way to be where it is today. Delhi with many of its offerings has set the records straight with the fact that it is quickly going to be a foodie destination on the gastronomic map of the world. There is an immense increase in the type of cuisines that are offered and the hunger to try something new is ever increasing.

Anardana, a newly opened kitchen and bar at Vikas Marg (East Delhi), is offering the best of the Indian continental fusion of cuisines, with culinary feats fit for every type of foodie.

Decor

With refreshingly chic interiors, Anardana exudes subtlety, class and elegance – it creates an atmosphere where you can enjoy a nice family dinner or a fun evening with friends. The entrance is alluring in itself, unravelling the insides which comprise private courtyards, elegant bar seating and a cover of 50 to 60 people. The artefacts used to define the place are eye-catching. The space is welcoming, intimate and quite effortlessly dramatic, giving you a distinctly “comfy” feel, without ever seeming over-designed.

Food And Drinks

We started our evening with Dahi Ke Kebab – hung yogurt cutlets prepared in traditional tandoori masala. The kebabs were succulent and melted in our mouth. Next, we tried Mushroom Galouti – smoky mushroom kebabs infused with cloves is another appetiser that you will like. For non-vegetarians, there is Gunpowder Chicken Tikka – char-grilled marinated chicken in podi spice mix. The generous layering of podi mix on the tikka was full of flavours, and the chicken was tender and well-grilled, just the way you want your chicken tikkas to be. Other appetisers we tasted include Paneer Lollypop – fried to perfection, cottage cheese lollypops were one of our favourites – and Fresh Garden Pizza – loaded with herbs, bell peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms and onions. Despite of such interesting list of ingredients, unfortunately the pizza failed to please our taste buds.

In the main course, we ordered Anardana Signature Butter Chicken, which was creamy and packed with flavours. Chef Amitabh Kumar told us that this restaurant's special butter chicken is one of the most ordered dishes at Anardana and is prepared with marinated chicken, which is first grilled and then mixed with a rich tomato gravy, butter and, of course, anardana (souring agent). The second dish that we ordered was the classic and evergreen (read: black), Dal Makhani. It is very rare that you find a dal makhani that tastes so right – creamy texture with the perfect balance of flavours.

As important as food, design, and music, Anardana offers some amazing and affordable yet fabulous tasting cocktails. The tastefully designed cocktail bar is trendy, brimming with enticing range of drinks.

Anardana is a trendy and affordable place, if you are looking for a nice family dinner place or for fun evening outing with friends. This is a kind of restaurant that you will be likely to put on your personal rotation.
