When we think of hot tea in the evening, we crave for 'something fried' while we let our health take a backseat. But, what if you get your snack just the way you want, yet it brings in the element of healthfulness? No, we are not promising to bring you a healthy samosa or a healthy pakoda, but something which is an equally popular street food and healthy as well - ram ladoo or moong dal pakoda.

If you live in North India, you must already know about it. Ram ladoo is one of the favourite snack items in the region, especially in Delhi. It is made of dough balls of moong dal, which is packed with proteins, fibre and some other vital nutrients. Moong dal is the lightest of all dals, so you can hog on the dish as much as you want. Even though, the moong dal fritters are fried first, they are soaked in water later, which washes away most of the oil. So, you get squidgy and airy non-oily pakodas. Dress the pakodas with tangy chutneys and coriander leaves and treat yourself with a plate of chaat just the way you get on the city's streets.
