Can you imagine a world without potatoes? Scary, right! But would you believe, Indians were introduced to the tuber only after the 16th century by the Portuguese. It did not take much time for us to warm up to this versatile veggie and here we are, obsessed with it in every shape and form. We just need an excuse to use potatoes, from our sabzi, pulao and paratha to biryani - they are just everywhere. Even our tea-time is incomplete without a bit of aloo. Now, you may have paired aloo pakoda with your cup of tea a lot of times, but have you ever had aloo ke namak pare?

This fabulous recipe of aloo namak para by food vlogger and YouTuber Parul is just ideal for those odd-time cravings for something crisp and chatpata

Here's what you need to do to make Aloo Namak Pare:

1. Take a big vessel, add maida, fine sooji, besan, crushed ajwain, salt to taste, red chilli powder. Mix all dry ingredients together using hands.
2. Add oil, mix well with all other ingredients. Mix until the dough starts binding and hold shape.
3. You do not need water to knead this dough. Instead of potato, you would be using boiled and grated potatoes. Add it gradually to the flour and mix using your hand until you get a firm dough.
4. Grease the dough with a bit of oil and let it rest for 5 minutes.
5. Divide the attain two parts.
6. Roll the dough until it is of medium thickness.
7. Cut strips of medium thickness. And then cut shapes of your desire.
8. Fry the namak pare on a low-medium flame.
9. Let it cool, serve.
10. Store in an air-tight container. You can store this namak pare for a whole month and serve each time the cravings kick in.
