Preity Zinta is back at her food game while she is in Mumbai. The co-owner of the IPL team Punjab Kings recently posted a picture of herself on Instagram gorging on vada pav. The actress clicked a selfie where she could be seen holding the lip-smacking Mumbai street food and smiling for the camera. In the background, we could see many more vada pavs kept on a tray. So, what's the reason for this celebration? Preity said it was because she had got 9 million followers on Instagram. She captioned the post, “When in Mumbai, celebrate the Mumbai way! Happy 9 million to all of us.”

She then went on to thank her Instafam, and also added the hashtags, “9 million” and “vadapav”.

Here's her post:

Vada Pav is Mumbai's most popular street food, where a spicy potato filling deep-fried in gram flour batter, is sandwiched between a bun, or pav, to which spicy garlic and green chutney are added. It may appear to be a lot of work, but it is actually quite quick and simple to make at home. Click here for the recipe.

Aside from the regular vada pav, if you want to try something different, you can make chicken vada pav at home. Instead of a potato filling, a chicken vada is sandwiched between the pav here.

There are a few other variations as well that you can try. For example, you can try making ulta vada pav, or the inside-out vada pav. Here, instead of using a pav to sandwich the vada, this recipe uses a potato vada to hold the bun together in the middle. Pair it with peanut and garlic chutney and some green chilli pickle.

Then there is also chilli cheese vada pav. Usually, vada pav contains a spicy potato filling, but in cheese chilli vada pav, the filling is made of green chillies and a variety of spices. Finally, just before serving, sprinkle grated cheese on it.

Coming back to Preity Zinta, did you know that she loved cooking too? Well, a few days ago, she shared throwback photos of herself cooking in the kitchen while holding a spatula. For the caption, she wrote, “Cooking is one of my favourite things.” In the images, the actress could be seen smiling for the camera while cooking. On her chopping board, we saw some finely chopped vegetables including tomatoes, capsicums, broccoli, peas, green chillies, carrots, potatoes, sweet corn, green beans, green onions and even aubergine.

Preity Zinta also appreciates food from other cuisines. Last month, she served a quarantine period in a hotel room before joining her team Punjab Kings in the IPL bio-bubble. So, she chose to spend her quarantine with some good food. Giving us a view of her healthy treat, she wrote, “Back to the IPL, back in quarantine.” In the Stories, we saw plates full of fruits and greens. There were apples, watermelons, berries, grapes, tomato, beetroot and leafy greens.
