A small round stoned fruit which grows in bunches. Cherry belongs to the same family of plums, apricots, peaches, etc. It varies from dark red to bright red in color. Mostly eaten raw it is also used in pies and jams. Unlike any other fruit, cherries have a very short fruiting season.

Although, there are several species of cherries cultivated, wild cherry and tart cherry are two popular cultivars. They are largely differentiated by their taste.
