Festivals are the only time we let go of our strict diet rules and gorge on those irresistible festive sweets. Barfi, ladoo, kheer, halwa and more such traditional Indian sweets re-enter our diet, and we don't really complain. Year after year, same or similar sweets are made in Indian households; although we still love them all, but our heart itches for something different sometimes. That's why we picked this caramel custard recipe as a novel addition to our festive menu.
The French dessert is popular across the globe and can be easily made at home with a few common ingredients. The wobbly custard with banging flavours is a hit with kids, which gives us another reason to make it to appease them during this joyous time of the year.

Custard placed on top of a goop of caramelized sugar is quite a sight to see, and quite a delight to eat.

Heat a pan and put sugar in it. Add some water and boil sugar till it dissolves and turns brown in colour. Put the sugar syrup in a bowl and keep it aside to cool down. Whisk eggs in a separate bowl, add powdered sugar, milk, vanilla essence and mix well. Sift through a colander and pour the egg mixture over the sugar syrup. Bake it and then refrigerate to cool it. Easy, isn't it!?
