1. Pickles

A staple in Indian cuisine, pickles offer tangy and spicy flavours in every bite. In Indian households, you can find a variety of pickles made with all kinds of vegetables. From mango to mixed vegetables, the list of pickles is endless. When stored properly in a cool, dry place and in air-tight containers, pickles can last up to 1 year. However, once opened, they should either be refrigerated or stored in a cool, dry place and consumed within 3-4 months for the best texture and flavours.

2. Chutneys

A versatile condiment that offers bold flavours, chutneys range from sweet to spicy. Although, these taste best when consumed fresh, homemade chutneys have a typically shorter shelf life as compared to store-bought varieties. Chutneys should be consumed within one week of being made and refrigerated to maintain freshness. Market-bought chutneys contain preservatives that extend their shelf life.

3. Sauces

Sauces like red chilli sauce, green chilli sauce, schezwan sauce, etc. add heat and flavour to dishes, making them a treat for spice lovers. These sauce bottles can be stored for several months if not opened. However, once opened, refrigerate the sauces to retain their freshness and flavour. Consume these sauces within six months after opening the bottles.
