The best part is, you can never get bored of chutney, thanks to the countless number of recipes available across the country. There's aam chutney, imli chutney, pineapple chutney, walnut chutney and the list continues. You will also find chutneys available in different textures. While some are fermented for days, some are enjoyed fresh (like pachadi). Then we have chutneys which look more like masalas - one such example is South Indian gunpowder. Call it chutney or masala, you can enjoy this ingredient as is or use it to prepare different South Indian delicacies. We recently came across another such powdered chutney that left a unique taste on our palate. It's the flaxseed chutney.

Both flaxseeds and sesame seeds are deemed superfoods that are loaded with almost every essential nutrient for overall benefit. Here we have a super easy flaxseeds chutney recipe, shared by celebrity chef Anahita Dhondy.

Chef Anahita took to Instagram to share the recipe and wrote alongside, "This flax seed chutney is an extremely versatile and highly nutritious spice blend that comes together quickly and easily. It's bursting with a nutty flavour from flaxseeds and other spices as well. You can eat this chutney with literally anything and everything, from your everyday lunch to adding a pinch to some lassi. It stays for a couple of months and is literally a wonder powder as I call it." Let's take a look at the recipe.

How To Make Flaxseed Chutney - Recipe By Chef Anahita Dhondy:

Ingredients:

  • One-fourth cup flax seeds
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 2-3 whole dry red chillies
  • 6-8 garlic cloves
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tsp cumin powder

Method:

  1. Dry roast flax seeds, red chillies, garlic and sesame seeds separately in a pan one by one, till it gives a nutty aroma. Transfer to a bowl or dish to cool.
  2. Once all the ingredients cool down, grind to a fine powder. Add salt and cumin powder, and give it a pulse again.
  3. Transfer to an air-tight container and refrigerate.

"Warm some ghee and mix it up! It's healthy and goes beautifully with dosas and idlis!" Chef Anahita added.
