PCOS Awareness Month: 5 Tips From Experts To Follow If You Have PCOS
Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most prevalent illnesses that affects millions of women worldwide. The hormonal disorder causes several tiny cysts in the ovaries. An individual's overall health can be impacted by PCOS. Although there is no direct treatment for PCOS, one can always control it through diet. Here we have some tips from experts that you may follow for PCOS management.
"PCOD patients should stay away from trans fats and foods with a lot of sodium and fats. They should also follow a diabetic diet and try to lose weight," advises Dr. Richa Garg from Delhi.
As per Dr. Shalini Singhal, chief nutrition consultant, "Women with PCOS/PCOD have insulin resistance. Thus the diet we recommend for them should be high in fibre with no or minimal carbohydrates and processed foods."
According to Nutritionist Lovneet Batra, "Plant-based protein may help to boost postprandial thermogenesis and decrease belly fat. One can include lentils, chickpeas, amaranth, beans, nuts, and seeds to their diet."
A diet high in sugar might make you gain weight and have other negative effects on your health. To satisfy that sweet tooth, it is preferable to eat a fruit high in fibre.
"There are certain natural herbs you may take to help keep your hormones in check, such as meethi dana, flaxseeds, and cinnamon," explains Dr. Gargi Sharma.
