Papad or papadum is a tortilla like preparation that can be fried or roasted. It is eaten as a snack or accompaniment with Indian meals. Vegetables, tomatoes or onions are often added on top for flavor. It is usually made from urad flour mostly but can also be made from chickpeaas, lentils and rice flour.

Vegetables, tomatoes or onions are often added on top for flavor. It is usually made from urad flour mostly but can also be made from chickpeaas, lentils and rice flour. In some parts of Indiam dried but uncooked papads are used in curries and vegetable dishes.
How to make papad?
Take about one kg of urad dal and grind it into flour and add salt and hing to taste. Add water and knead it for some time. Make pancake like shapes and dry them under sun. With one kg of urad dal you should be able to make 100 papads.
