This is not the first time that a Rajinikanth look alike has gone viral. In November 2022, Rehmat Gashkori, a 62-year-old retired government official from Pakistan, made news after he started posting his videos on social media. These videos soon prompted people to link his appearance with Rajinikanth.
In an interview with Arab News, Gashkori said, “During my service with the deputy commissioner's office in Sibi, I didn't care too much about the comments about my resemblance with Rajinikanth. After I retired, I started using social media and many people started calling me by that name. I accepted it since I realised that God had blessed me with the looks of a great actor and human being.”
He added that once in Karachi he was mobbed by people at a shopping mall who mistook him for Rajinikanth.
