Hanuman Jayanti is a widely celebrated Hindu festival across India. It marks the birth anniversary of Lord Hanuman and is observed every year on the day of Purnima (full moon) in the month of Chaitra. In India, the festival is being celebrated today, April 2. From early morning, large numbers of devotees can be seen visiting temples dedicated to Lord Hanuman. To mark the occasion, temples are beautifully decorated and special programmes of bhajans, kirtans, and community feasts (bhandaras) are organised. Many devotees observe a fast on this day and, after evening prayers, offer Boondi or Besan Ladoos, considered Lord Hanuman's favourite sweet as bhog. After the offering, they break their fast and enjoy a simple sattvic (pure and wholesome) meal.

Why Are Ladoos Offered To Lord Hanuman?
Tuesday is considered an auspicious day for Lord Hanuman, and devotees visit temples to offer bhog of sweet boondi. On the special occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, offering Boondi or Boondi Ladoos holds special significance. It is believed that worshipping Lord Hanuman removes obstacles and troubles from life, which is why he is known as Sankatmochan - the remover of difficulties. Boondi Ladoos are said to be very dear to him. According to belief, his mother Mata Anjani fed him ladoos during his childhood, which is why this sweet remains closely associated with him.
