Chai is incomplete without snacks, and namkeen is one chai-time snack that is always available in our pantries. However, consuming store-bought namkeen daily can be unhealthy. The packets are filled with preservatives and added colours that are not good for our health. But that doesn't mean we should stop eating namkeen altogether. Rather than indulging in store-bought namkeen, make namkeen at home on your own!
Thanks to YouTube-based food blogger Parul Gupta, we have found the recipe for kolhapuri murmure namkeen. Also known as Kolhapuri Bhadang, this namkeen is extremely popular as street food within the Maharashtrian city. You can easily recreate this namkeen by following the recipe given below or by watching the recipe video released by Parul Gupta's channel 'Cook With Parul'.
Kolhapuri Bhadang: How To Make Kolhapuri Murmure Namkeen At Home
Start by roasting puffed rice till they are crisp. Keep this aside. Grind saunf, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, hing, salt, black salt, grated ginger and garlic cloves till it is a coarse masala.
Heat oil in a kadhai and fry peanuts till crisp. Remove the peanuts, and in the same oil saute mustard seeds. Add the prepared masala, roasted chana dal, chopped green chillies, curry leaves, Kashmiri red chilli powder and fried peanuts. Fry the masala and season with salt. Remove the masala from the flame. Mix the masala with puffed rice and the namkeen is ready!
