According to the latest update on McDonald's website, the Gold Card guarantees two free meals per week for 50 years. Mr Gates and Mr Buffett had proudly shown their Gold Cards a few years back. During an interview with CNBC back in 2007, Warren Buffet joked how that's why his family sometimes has Christmas dinner at McDonald's.
Interestingly, each Gold Card comes with its own set of perks. Mr Buffett's Gold Card grants him the privilege of dining for free at McDonald's outlets in Omaha, while Mr Gates' card offers him unlimited access to free food at any McDonald's outlet across the globe.

In 2022, McDonald's launched a contest to give regular people a shot at the legendary Gold Card. Winners of the "SZN of Sharing" campaign could enjoy two free meals a week for 50 years, and they could share this perk with three others. To enter, people just had to make purchases on the McDonald's app from December 5 to December 25, during the Christmas season. McDonald's exec Tariq Hassan said at the time, "Our fans have been fascinated by the lore of the McGold Card and if it really exists. And now, we'll make this McDonald's legend a reality for our fans by giving them the ultimate holiday gift."
