In the ever-evolving world of food, technology has become a crucial player, transforming not only the way we prepare and consume meals but also how we experience dining. Robot waiters are now serving customers in some restaurants, streamlining service and offering a unique experience. Advancements include the use of technology in water services, where robot waiters efficiently provide a contactless means of delivering water to patrons. Recently, Japan's McDonald's has introduced an innovative system in some locations where washrooms have a slot designed to sanitise our phones.
The unique feature gained attention through a viral Instagram video. The video showcases a horizontal slot beside the sink, discovered by citizens in Japan. Instructions for using the device are provided below the attached slot. To utilize it, the mobile phone is inserted horizontally into the slot, as demonstrated in the video. The instructions emphasise the importance of gently placing smartphones inside the slot and avoiding hand entry. The slot sanitises the phones using a hydrological cycle system and deep ultraviolet rays.

"That's so amazing, but if we had those in the US public restrooms, they wouldn't last long. People would let their children put all types of stuff in there. Otherwise, I think it would be great for higher-end dining," said a third.

The smartphone washing system is called WOSH, created by the Japanese company WOTA. It is a sustainable hand-washing stand with a reusable water-based sink. Using a hydrological system and ultraviolet rays, WOSH can disinfect your phone from germs, claiming 99.9% sanitization within 30 seconds. The idea came about due to the rise of viruses and bacteria, aiming to bring more hygiene into our daily lives. So, you can now wash your hands and clean your phone at the same time.
