Ingredients of Balekai Podi

  • 2 Raw banana
  • 1/2 cup chickpea flour
  • 1/2 cup gram flour
  • 1/2 cup rice flour
  • 1/2 tsp ajwain
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • A pinch of baking soda
  • A pinch of asafoetida
  • Oil (to deep fry)
  • Water (as needed)

How to Make Balekai Podi

  • 1.Add all the flours, salt and spices together in a bowl. Mix them well.
  • 2.Now pour water to it as needed and make a smooth batter by mixing well.
  • 3.Peel and slice the bananas into thick circular portions.
  • 4.Now heat the oil, dip each slice of the bananas into the flour batter and coat it completely. Deep-fry the slice into hot oil.
  • 5.Fry till both the sides turn golden and crisp
  • 6.Serve hot with your choice of chutney.
