Prawns coated with batter, rolled in prawn cracker crumble and fried. Serve with some easy to make pickle cream.

Ingredients of Prawn Popcorn with Pickle Cream

  • For the prawn mix:
  • 250 g small sized prawns (headless, shell off and deveined)
  • 1 tsp green chilli, chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp garlic, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp refined flour (maida)
  • 1 Tbsp green coriander, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 liter oil (for frying)
  • For the batter and crumbing:
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup refined flour (maida)
  • 1 packet prawn crackers (ready to fry)
  • For the pickle cream dip:
  • 1 small bottle ready-made mixed pickle
  • 100 ml clotted or thick cream

How to Make Prawn Popcorn with Pickle Cream

  • For prawn popcorn:
  • 1.Coarsely chop the prawn mix ingredients (without the oil)
  • 2.Mix egg and refined flour to make a thick batter.
  • 3.Coarsely pound the prawn crackers to a coarse bread crumb consistency.
  • 4.Make small roundels of the chopped prawn mix and coat it lightly with batter.
  • 5.Roll the coated roundels in ground prawn crackers and fry in moderately hot oil.
  • 6.Serve hot with the dip.
  • For the pickle cream dip:
  • 1.Add a teaspoon of pickle puree to 1/4 cup cream to make dip.
