A festive Indian dessert made with singhatra atta (water chestnut flour) and almonds.

Ingredients of Singhare Atte ka Halwa

  • 1 Cup Singhare ka atta
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 4 1/2 Cups Water
  • 6 Tbsp Ghee
  • 1/2 tsp Green cardamoms, powdered
  • 1 Tbsp Almonds (shredded), blanched

How to Make Singhare Atte ka Halwa

  1. 1.Melt the ghee,add the atta and stir-fry over medium flame, taking care to avoid scorching.
  2. 2.At the same time, place water and sugar in another pan and dissolve sugar over medium flame.
  3. 3.Keep on simmer, until further use.
  4. 4.When the atta mixture has been fried enough, then add the sugar solution and cardamom powder. Bring it to boil and then simmer till the liquid is absorbed.
  5. 5.At this stage, you can stir occasionally.
  6. 6.A thin line of melted ghee will form around the edges, when it is cooked enough.
  7. 7.This should take 5-7 minutes.
  8. 8.Garnish it with some almonds and serve hot.
