Bad gut bacteria -- or an insufficient amount of good bacteria -- may have a direct link to multiple sclerosis, say researchers, including one of Indian-origin.

Scientists at seven UK universities are to set up a research consortium aimed at exploiting a newly discovered link between immune disorders and mental illness.

The findings showed that air pollution increased the chances of developing membranous nephropathy -- an immune disorder of the kidneys -- that can lead to kidney failure.
