According to the regulator, allegations about nitrofuran metabolites being present in eggs are incorrect and risk spreading panic among consumers.
The quality of eggs distributed by a brand called Eggoz was recently questioned and the issue received a lot of public interest. The FSSAI has accordingly directed its regional offices to conduct checks.
