Recipe Cook Time

BOO! Halloween is here and its time to entertain your guests with some spooky cookies. Shape them like Jack-o'-lanterns, witches hat, bats, ghosts or whatever you want.

  • For the templates:

    Thick paper

    For the cookies:

    1 1/2 cup maida / flour

    3/4 cup powdered sugar

    1 tsp nutmeg powder

1/2 cup softened butter (Use normally available butter. In case you are using unsalted butter add 1/2 tsp salt to the dough)

    2 drops vanilla essence

    2 Tbsp cold milk

    For the icing:

    1 cup icing sugar

    3-4 Tbsp milk

    2 drops vanilla essence

1-2 drops food coloring, orange, yellow, purple ( According to the template you choose)

Make paper templates. Cut paper into shapes of ghost, tombstone, Jack-o'-lanterns, witches hat etc. Keep aside.

In a bowl mix together maida, powdered sugar, nutmeg powder.

Add: Butter and vanilla essence.

Knead the dough together with milk till it sticks together.

Roll out the dough to a 1/2 cm thickness. With the prepared templates (Ghost, tombstone, Jack-o'-lanterns, witches hat etc.) cut out the cookie dough in different shapes with a butter knife.

Place on a greased baking tray and bake for 12-15 minutes at 180 degree C.

Let it cool for 10 minutes.

Brush the cookies with some icing and serve.

For the Icing:

In a bowl mix all the ingredients together to form a thick paste.

You can add food coloring according to your cookie theme. Orange if your cookies are shaped like pumpkins, purple/black for hats and bats and so on.

Brush the cookies with this icing. It hardens on cooling.
