While a significant part of the world is divided between vegetarian and non-vegetarian preferences, our country exhibits a variety of eating habits. Some individuals refrain from consuming onion and garlic, while others may avoid non-vegetarian food but include eggs in their diet. Additionally, some only consume non-vegetarian dishes on specific days. India has a distinctive food culture that comes with some unique food-related terms. Author Krish Ashok recently shared an Instagram video, highlighting various food-related terms commonly used in India.

In the caption, Krish Ashok said, “India has one of the most astonishing diversity of cuisines in the world, and because of our colonial history, we have also made the English language our own. The terms we use for food can often be confusing to foreign visitors. This is a light-hearted attempt at explaining some of the more unique food-related terms from this part of the world.”
“Also - the tongue-in-cheek references to our “pure veg” culture are not meant to be taken seriously, but who am I kidding please have fun in the comments while I mute the app and enjoy Hyderabad for the next 24 hours," Krish Ashok added.
