Apart from building the spice business from scratch, he is also remembered as an iconic face associated with the brand's advertisements. His death was mourned by many renowned personalities across the country, including President Ram Nath Kovind and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Several users paid their respects to the entrepreneur in their own special way. According to the post shared by ANI, the portrait was created using spices from the brand itself. An incredible likeness to MDH owner Dharampal Gulati could be seen in the painting which was painstakingly created by the Chandigarh-based visual artist. The intricate details captured everything - right from his turban to his spectacles. The fact that the portrait was created using spices made the tribute even more befitting.

MDH owner Dharampal Gulati is credited with single-handedly setting up the Mahashian Di Hatti spice business, which now exports to multiple countries across the globe. He is known not just for his business acumen, but also for his philanthropic contributions towards the society. Among his numerous achievements, he was also awarded the Padma Bhushan in the year 2019, which is the third-highest civilian award in the country.
