We all love going out for a bucket of chicken wings or some spicy Peri Peri chicken, but not all of us are aware of the dynamics that go into providing that delicious meal. Fast food giant Nando's has been forced to close down over 40 outlets across the United Kingdom. This is about 10% of its outlets across Britain. The reason for this is the shortage of its hottest selling item - the Peri-Peri chicken. Take a look at what Nando's UK wrote on Twitter:
The UK supply chain is having a bit of a ‘mare right now. This is having a knock-on effect with some of our restaurants across England, Scotland and Wales. We are doing everything we can to get the PERi-PERi back where it belongs – on your plates!— Nando's (@NandosUK) August 17, 2021

Nando's said that their supply chains had been affected, resulting in shortages in restaurants across England, Scotland, and Wales. "We are doing everything we can to get the PERi-PERi back where it belongs - on your plates," they assured.
Reports suggest that this chicken shortage is due to dwindling staff numbers in the UK. Fast-food chains are struggling to recruit people after the COVID-19 pandemic. Brexit too has supposedly played an important role, as the UK has seen a large exodus of drivers who were critical to supply chains. Companies are now trying to attract staff by offering better incentives in the form of food and accommodation.
Twitter users were quite surprised to see the fast-food giant run short of chicken. Many commented that this was a sad effect of Brexit on the UK economy. Others shared hilarious jokes and memes on the issue. Take a look at the best ones:

Nando's is not the only fast-food giant to be impacted by supply chain issues in the recent past. Popular restaurant Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) is also facing 'disruptions' as some of its items on the menu are unavailable. "We know it's not ideal, but we're working hard to keep things running smoothly," they said in a tweet. Take a look:
