About Ashoka Halwa Recipe: A quick and easy south Indian version of moong dal halwa made without milk. Ashoka halwa is a delicious dessert to treat your sweet cravings.

Ingredients of Ashoka Halwa

  • 2 Cups moong dal
  • 1 Cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 Cup ghee
  • 1/2 Cup sugar
  • A pinch of saffron
  • 1 tsp cadamom powder
  • 1 Tbsp ghee
  • 2 Tbsp cashews (optional)
  • 2 Tbsp raisins (optional)

How to Make Ashoka Halwa

  • 1.Pressure cook moong dal with about 1 tsp of ghee and water until about 4 whistles.
  • 2.Cool and blend the dal to a smooth paste. Keep it aside.
  • 3.Meanwhile, roast wheat flour and cardamom powder together until it is lump-free. Roast cashews separately.
  • 4.Add this mix to the pressure cooked dal and cook until it thickens, for about 15 minutes.
  • 5.Cook until it turns glossy. Top it with roasted nuts and sertve hot.
