Ingredients of Banana Florets in Malvani Masala

  • 1 Banana flower
  • 300 gram Peas
  • 2 1/2 tbsp Refined oil
  • 1/2 tbsp Mustard seeds
  • 2 Onion, finely chopped
  • 50 ml Water
  • to taste Salt
  • Handful Coconut, grated
  • For Malvani Masala:
  • 1 piece medium Mace (javitri)
  • 4-5 Kashmiri red chillies
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 5-6 Black peppercorns
  • 1 Cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 tsp Coriander seeds
  • 1 tsp Fennel seeds
  • 1 tsp Poppy seeds
  • 1 tsp Asafoetida
  • 1/2 Star anise
  • 1/4 Nutmeg
  • 3-4 Cloves

How to Make Banana Florets in Malvani Masala

Clean and chop the stamen and petals of the banana flower.

Dry roast all the ingredients of the Malvani Masala. Grind it and keep it aside.

In a saucepan, heat the oil, add mustard seeds and allow them to pop. Add the chopped banana flower, peas, onion, Malvani Masala and salt.
4.
Pour in the water and cover. Let it simmer for 10 minutes till all the water is absorbed and the vegetable is tender.
5.
Garnish with grated coconut and serve hot.
