Ingredients of Kamal Kakdi Ka Achaar

  • 350 gms Lotus stem
  • 1 1/2 tsp Carom seeds
  • A pinch of hing
  • 1 tsp Star anise
  • 1 1/2 tsp Black pepper
  • 100 ml Oil
  • 1 tsp Lemon juice
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp Haldi

How to Make Kamal Kakdi Ka Achaar

First, we need to wash the lotus stem nicely. Strain the water and cut into small pieces.

Now, boil some water in a pan and add the lotus stem slices to it. Allow them to boil for 4-5 minutes or until they turn tender. Once done, turn off the flame and drain the water.

Put the lotus stem slices on a cloth and allow them to dry for a few hours. (Make sure there’s no moisture left).

Next, add carom seeds, black pepper, and star anise in a mixer grinder to form a coarse powder.

Heat oil in a pan set on low-medium flame and add the remaining carom seeds, star anise, and hing. Roast well and turn off the flame.
6.
Finally, add the sliced lotus stems and mix well. Once the pickle cools down, add lemon juice and store in an air-tight container.
