Winter season is here and we cannot stop but think of what is it about the season that we collectively connect it with. And besides the winter chill along with a piping cup of tea, there's one delight that all of us have a special liking for; it's the Sarson Ka Saag with Makke Ki Roti. It is a winter treat that most of us must have cherished at least once. Even Bollywood diva Kareena Kapoor Khan cannot resist this Punjabi winter delight.

A popular north Indian delight, sarson ka saag is a vegetarian delight made using seasonal mustard leaves with other leafy vegetables like bathua, spinach and radish leaves. It is cooked with a host of spices, topped with butter and is served with makke ki roti. Makke or maize flour is made using dried corn kernels, milled into smooth, pale yellow coloured flour. Since it is made with corn, it is packed with vitamins A, B, E along with fibre. While it might sound like a tough task, you can prepare makke ki roti at home with a few simple steps!

Here we have a quick and easy makke ki roti recipe by NDTV Food. In this recipe, makki ka atta is mixed with ajwain, salt, ghee and water to a thick dough. It is flattened and simply cooked over a pan, served hot topped with loads of butter.
