The Women's Reservation Bill, 2023, or the 'Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam' was passed in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, 20th September 2023. It was then passed by the Rajya Sabha as well, where it received unanimous support. The Women Reservation Bill seeks to reserve one-third or 33% of all seats for women in the Lok Sabha and the state legislative assemblies. After the Parliament's approval, all that remain's is the President's signature. Although its implementation may take some time, this Bill seems to have given people much cause to celebrate. To mark this historic occasion, popular Indian dairy brand Amul released a signature illustration.

In the creative topical, we see two figures standing in front of a representation of the Parliament House in New Delhi. One is a woman dressed in a sari and the other is the Amul girl. Both are holding buttered slices of bread in their hands. A slice of bread is also depicted as being placed on top of the Parliament house, with "33 %" written in font that brings to mind melted butter. The sari-clad woman is seen pointing to this numerical figure. "Always deserved to be reserved," reads the text on the upper part of the topical. Below, as usual, the brand manages to include some wordplay: "Amul. Loved by the majority." (This line hints at the majority support that the bill garnered in both Houses of Parliament).
