Ingredients of Bajra Vadi

  • 1 cup Bajra flour (Pearl millet flour)
  • 2 tbsp Besan (Chickpea flour)
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • A pinch of Red chilli powder
  • 2 tsp Sesame seeds
  • 1/4 tsp Asafoetida (hing)
  • 1/4 tsp Baking soda
  • Oil, for frying
  • Water, as required
  • Salt, to taste

How to Make Bajra Vadi

In a large mixing bowl, combine the Bajra flour, Besan, cumin seeds, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, sesame seeds, asafoetida, baking soda, and a pinch of salt. Gently mix the dry ingredients until well combined.

Gradually add water to the dry mixture, kneading the dough until it achieves a pliable consistency.

Take a small portion of the dough and roll it into a ball. Flatten the ball between your palms to form a disc-shaped vadi. Repeat this process with the remaining dough.

In a pan, heat a small amount of oil over medium heat. Carefully place the vadis in the hot oil and cook them until they turn golden brown and crisp on both sides.

Once cooked, remove the vadis from the pan and place them on a paper towel to absorb any excess oil. Sprinkle some sesame seeds and let them cool down and store them.
