How to make Chirote

Chirote, also known as pheni is a sweet and crusty snack made with maida. It is slightly sweetened and makes the perfect quick snack to present guests for any festive occassion.

Ingredients of Chirote

  • 1 Maida
  • 1/4 cup Ghee
  • 1/2 cup Powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp Ghee for Sata
  • 2 tbsp Maida for Sata

How to Make Chirote

In a bowl add maida, some ghee, and water. Knead a tight soft dough. Let this sit for some time.

In a smaller bowl add maida and ghee and powdered sugar for sata and whisk thoroughly until a grainy thick paste has been formed.

Knead the dough again and make 5-6 thick rotis out of them. Spread the sata on the roti with your hands. Spread evenly.
4.
Start rolling the roti tightly. Now, cut the roti roll into small 2cm pieces and flatten each piece with your hand.

Heat oil/ghee in a pan and fry the chirote until golden brown on both sides. Sprinkle some powdered sugar on top and serve hot.
