A tasty chocolate and nut loaf made with yogurt. Topped with a pear and sweet lime rind sauce.

Ingredients of Chocolate and Nut Loaf

  • 3 Tbsp warm water
  • 3 Tbsp cocoa
  • 300 ml yoghurt
  • 2 eggs
  • 125 gm grated jaggery
  • 125 gm chopped nuts
  • 150 gm raisins
  • 200 gm flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • Pear topping:
  • 1/2 kg chopped pears
  • 1 strip of sweet lime rind
  • 2 tsp butter
  • 4 Tbsp sugar
  • Chopped chocolate

How to Make Chocolate and Nut Loaf

  • 1.Mix water and cocoa.
  • 2.Stir in yoghurt, followed by the remaining ingredients for the loaf.
  • 3.Blend until smooth.
  • 4.Pour the mixture into a greased loaf tin.
  • 5.Bake at 180 degrees C for 40 minutes.
  • To make the pear topping:
  • 1.Cook pears in a little butter along with the rind until soft and pulpy.
  • 2.Sweeten with sugar and continue cooking until thick.
  • 3.Cool and spread over the loaf.
  • 4.Garnish with chopped chocolate.
