How to make Patholi

Patholi is a steamed sweet dish that is made during festivals, especially during the time of Ganesh Chaturthi.

Ingredients of Patholi

  • 4-6 large Turmeric leaf
  • 1 cup Dosa Rice Soaked
  • Handful flattened rice
  • 1 cup Desiccated Coconut
  • 1/2 cup Jaggery
  • 1 tsp Cardamom Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt

How to Make Patholi

Soak rice and flattened rice for an hour.

After an hour, make a smooth paste out of this and add ½ tspn salt to it.

Now for the stuffing, in a bowl take desiccated coconut, jaggery, and cardamom and mix well.

Get the turmeric leaves and wash them properly, pat dry with a towel before using.

Take a leaf and spread the rice batter evenly from top to bottom.

Now add a handful of coconut mixture halfway through the leaf. Fold the leaf and use a little rice mixture to seal shut.

Repeat this process until all leaves have been stuffed.

Now in a big pan bring 1 cup of water to a rolling boil.

On top of this place the steamer or the steaming plate that you are using.

Place a big muslin cloth on top of the steamer and then add the stuffed leaves one by one.
11.
Cover the leaves with the remaining muslin cloth and let this steam for around 20 minutes.
12.
When done the leaves will become brownish and dried.
13.
Take off the heat and let it cool for 5 minutes before you dig in.
