Delhi's culinary scene is always buzzing with excitement, and recently, I had the pleasure of exploring The Grammar Room's revamped cocktail menu. Nestled in the bustling Mehrauli area, this charming eatery has always been a favourite haunt for food enthusiasts and cocktail aficionados alike. If course, I could not resist the temptation of trying their new cocktail creations. And I had a great time sipping some of their latest concoctions and savouring a medley of mouthwatering food.
Elderflower Spritzer: A Symphony of Elegance
As I perused the new cocktail menu, the Elderflower Spritzer instantly caught my attention. This enchanting elixir blends vodka, sparkling wine, lime, and elderflower essence. The delicate floral notes of elderflower went well with zesty lime, while the vodka and sparkling wine added a touch of sophistication. It was a refreshing, effervescent delight that left a lingering sense of satisfaction on my taste buds.
El Mango Chilli: A Spicy Tequila Affair
Next up was the Mango Chilli cocktail, a tequila-based creation that promised a tantalizing twist. This vibrant concoction combined tequila with thyme, honey water, and citrus. As I took my first sip, I was greeted with a burst of flavour. The sweet allure of ripe mango seamlessly mingled with the earthy thyme, while a subtle hint of chilli added an unexpected kick. The honey water lent a soothing touch, balancing the fiery notes. This cocktail was a bold and beautiful fusion that showcased the creative prowess of The Grammar Room's mixologists.
Classic Lime Margarita: Timeless Refreshment
No cocktail journey is complete without a classic, and The Grammar Room's Classic Lime Margarita hit all the right notes. This iconic concoction showcased the essence of simplicity and timelessness. The tangy punch of lime juice was expertly balanced with the smooth embrace of tequila. Sipping on this margarita was like reuniting with an old friend - familiar, comforting, and utterly satisfying.
Hibiscus Margarita: A Vibrant Twist
For those seeking an exotic twist on the classic, the Hibiscus Margarita was a revelation. This vibrant libation infused the essence of hibiscus, adding a mesmerising crimson hue to the traditional margarita. With each sip, the tartness of hibiscus petals played a delightful symphony with the tequila's warmth, creating a refreshingly exotic experience.
Culinary Delights to Complement the Cocktails
While the cocktails were undoubtedly the stars of the evening, the culinary offerings at The Grammar Room were equally impressive. To begin, I indulged in the Avocado Summer Rolls, a refreshing treat that featured apple, avocado, pickled gari, and chilli seaweed. Each bite was a delightful explosion of textures and flavours, with the creamy avocado and crisp apple harmonising perfectly.
The Sushi Tostada followed, presenting a unique fusion of flavours. This innovative creation combined sushi elements with a tostada's crunch. The guacamole added a creamy richness, while the green apple provided a refreshing contrast, making it a snack that was as indulgent as it was inventive. I tried another unique dish that was not on the regular menu but featured on the 'specials for the day' - Chimichurri Chicken. It was flavourful chicken pieces served as a snack. While it tasted great, the chicken was cooked medium (pink inside) which is not my personal preference.
From the 'Big Plates', I savoured the Kra Pow, a Thai basil chicken dish crowned with a sunny-side-up egg, accompanied by sticky rice. The tender chicken was bathed in a flavourful sauce that struck a perfect balance between sweet, savoury, and spicy. Paired with the creamy yolk of the sunny-side-up egg and the comforting stickiness of the rice, it was a dish that celebrated the complexity of Thai cuisine.
If you find yourself in the Mehrauli area in Delhi and crave a memorable dining experience, I highly recommend visiting The Grammar Room. Whether you're a cocktail lover or an enthusiastic foodie, you're in for a treat that combines the best of both worlds.
