In a cricket-crazy nation like ours, every tournament calls for a celebration. Watching a match and cheering for our favourite teams isn't just a casual pastime, but an entire festival for us. Good food and drinks accompany every tournament - we munch on delicious goodies while cheering for our favourite teams. Monkey Bar in Vasant Kunj, Delhi is one place that is frequented by sports buffs from across the capital city. The restaurant is offering a special menu with great regional food, chilled cocktails and an electrifying atmosphere to watch all the matches during the cricket season.
Monkey Bar's Pavilion 2.0 is a limited-edition menu inspired by each team's state or city that you can cheer for this cricket season. Be it Rajasthan or Punjab, Kolkata or Delhi - there is a dish dedicated to every team. The very first glance of Monkey Bar makes it clear that this is not your usual restaurant. Built inside a sprawling green area, the eatery is shaped like a glass pyramid-like in the French museum Louvre. Wooden finish, quirky décor elements, live match screenings running on television screens, a pool and a foosball table complete the vibrant and sporty environment.
We started our meal with the Rajasthani Royal Pithore - a flavoursome snack that was crisp on the outside and creamy on the inside and a highly recommended pick from the menu. It was served on a bed of the signature green pea masala, drizzled with sweet yoghurt and tamarind chutney. The next on our list was the Titans of Dabeli - a Gujarat-inspired dish that had the flavours of Dabeli inside a crunchy pastry. Baklava-filo sheets were stuffed with masala and tamarind potato, edamame, and truffle topped with melted cheese, confit garlic, fig and apple chutney, cashew, pomegranate and Sev.
In the main course, we sampled the Taco Time Out from Delhi. Braised mutton was topped with onion and tomato in this open Taco preparation, accompanied by korma sauce on the side. The dish was extremely fulfilling and sated all our food cravings. We also tried the Masala Podu from Chennai - a crunchy Masala Puri stuffed with spiced chickpea Bhalla. Similar to the chaat dish Raj Kachori, this wholesome treat was a delight for street food lovers like us!
So, head to Monkey Bar and elebrate the cricket season with these scrumptious treats.
