The scorching summer season has begun across the country. As temperatures soar and the weather drains the energy out of us, we seek some respite in food and beverages. Seasonal favourites soon find their way onto our palate, giving us some much-needed hydration while also tantalising our tastebuds. If you are looking for a new place to try this summer, HOME is where you should be. A luxury restaurant located on the third floor of Ambience Mall, Vasant Kunj, HOME also doubles up as PVR's lounge and a social and live entertainment club. Their new summer menu is all about local seasonal ingredients from homegrown artisanal brands, with plenty of options for all kinds of palates.
Chef Mayank, chef Harpal and chef Saito conceived the new summer menu for HOME. They have incorporated European cooking techniques, Indian avant-garde culinary experiences and intense Japanese flavours into a single menu. Thus, you can choose from cuisines as wide-ranging and distinct as French to Japanese, Mediterranean to even Indian!
In the appetisers section, we tried the Plantain Shami Kebab Taco in which the Raw Mango Tartare element truly stood out. Next up was the Truffle Mushroom Pate with a Parmesan Cheeseling and an Apricot house pickle. Chefs also served us a carefully selected assortment of Dim Sums that were gluten-free and flourless, and also had elements of summer such as water chestnut stuffed inside. We also thoroughly enjoyed the Avocado and Green Mango Tartare topped with a Green Mango Sorbet - a refreshing delight and ideal for summer!
For the main course, we were in for a cheesy treat from Tibet - the Vegetable Ema Datshi. A comforting stew made with Yak cheese, summer greens and chilli oil and paired with Tingmo, it was definitely a fulfilling end to our meal. If you relish the flavours of Europe, we would also recommend the Saffron and Lotus Mantis with tomato butter, chives and garlic cream. Our meal came to a sweet end with the Apple Bebeinca with Coconut and Almond Milk Gelato.
