Anyone struggling with belly fat would know how difficult it is to get rid of it. Crunches, planks and other stomach exercises work, but it gets too much for us, sometimes. Only if we didn't have to go through a strenuous workout regime to reduce belly fat. Well, this is not just wishful thinking; you can actually eat your way to a flat tummy! We are not saying this but experts are. There are some foods and drinks that can help you squash those tires around your tummy - apple juice is one of them.
A recent study, published in the Journal of Oleo Science, claims that apple juice can "significantly" reduce belly fat in a matter of weeks. The researchers came to the conclusion after conducting a randomised study to check the efficacy of long-term intake of polyphenols derived from apples.
A total of 124 participants were roped in and divided into two groups. Every day, one group was served around 340 grams of polyphenol-rich apple drinks and the other group consumed beverages without polyphenols. After 12 weeks, it was noticed that the visceral fat area (VFA) of the subjects in the 'apple group' had decreased significantly.

Polyphenols are natural plant compounds found in various fruits and vegetables. Apples are considered a very good source of the compound and that's why they were used in this clinical trial.
We have grown up reading and hearing about the various health benefits that apples provide. It's a pleasant surprise to know that apples can help us lose weight too, including belly fat. While polyphenols play a major role in the process, check out some other characteristics of apples (not a part of the study) which make the fruit a must-have in a weight-loss diet.

Here're 3 More Reasons To Include Apples In Weight Loss Diet:
1. Low-Calorie Fruit
A 100-gram serving of apple contains just 50 calories, as per the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Digesting low-calorie foods use up excess calorie in the body, hence, apple works well in the weight loss diet.
2. Rich in Pectin Fibre
"Healing Foods" book by DK Publishing says, "apples are rich in fibre, especially pectin fibre, which revs up metabolism, promotes digestion and regulates blood sugar level."
3. High Water Content
Did you know that a medium-sized apple contains as much as 85 per cent water content? This property makes an apple a healthy and easily digestible fruit that helps lose extra kilos.
Now you have enough reasons to drink apple juice every day to weed out that bothersome tummy flab. Eating a whole apple is also a good idea.
