This chicken curry from Goa is an amalgamation of aromatic spices and coconut. The creamy, spicy and nutty chicken curry is often served with steamed rice. To prepare this chicken curry, you'll first need to marinate the chicken and make the xacuti masala.

Chicken Xacuti: How To Make Goan Chicken Xacuti
Start by marinating the chicken in salt, turmeric powder, ginger-garlic paste, coriander, and green chillies for 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, move on to preparing the paste for this curry You'll need to heat oil in a pan and saute sliced onions, green chillies, garlic and grated coconut. Once the onions are crispy, remove the mixture. Dry roast cinnamon, cardamom, aniseed, peppercorn, poppy seeds, coriander seeds, Kashmiri red chillies, star anise, maize flower, nutmeg and turmeric. Now, grind the onion-coconut mixture with the roasted whole spices to make the Xacuti paste.
Next, heat oil in a pan. Add the marinated chicken and the prepared Xacuti masala. Pour water and let the chicken cook in the gravy. Once the chicken is cooked through, the chicken xacuti gravy is ready!
