Mention Chandigarh and the first thing that usually pops into mind are lush-green gardens, well-planned architecture and stunning landscape. Speaking about food, the city offers an amalgamation of the tastes of Punjab and Haryana. The quintessential butter chicken, parathas and lassi hold a special place in the hearts of many. However, the culinary scene in Chandigarh is slowly expanding as people are wanting to explore different cuisines. This is evident from the sudden increase in boutique cafes and fine dining restaurants in the city. And one such recent addition to the list is Pink Wasabi. A chic Pan-Asian restaurant with Instagram-worthy picture spots located in one of the most popular locations of the city, Nexus Elante Mall.
I recently visited the restaurant, and I must admit, it quite impressed me. As soon as you walk inside the place, the first thing that'll grab your attention is its vibrant and stunning ambience. Staying true to its name, the candy-floss pink furnishings and cherry blossom groves will instantly transport you to the Japanese spring season. It goes without saying that this place is surely Insta-worthy, and your pictures here will impress anyone.
Coming to the food, they have a wide range of Pan-Asian delicacies such as dim sums, sushi, bao, classics, specials and curries. Their mocktails and desserts are equally impressive. First up, I tried the Passion Fruit Cobbler - a refreshing mocktail made with passion fruit, lime and ginger ale. It was the perfect way to kick-start my meal. Next up, for starters, I had the Shanghai Vegetable Dumpling and Pink Wasabi Special Roll. The dumpling was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside and had the right amount of spice. Their special roll was sushi made of shiitake, avocado, carrot, cucumber, cream cheese, pickled jalapenos and sesame seeds. It offered an interesting taste and I quite liked it.
For mains, I sampled one of the most unique dishes on their menu - Blue Edamame Truffle Fried Rice with toppings of fried garlic. The rice is blue-coloured and edamame and garlic add a layer of crunch to it. I highly recommend you to try it out. I paired it with the Chilli Basil Curry - the curry was oozing with spicy flavours and complemented the rice well. Lastly, I ended my meal with a delicious raspberry flavoured chocolate mousse.
The overall vibe of Pink Wasabi is lively and vibrant. So, if you're in Chandigarh and craving some authentic Pan-Asian cuisine, you must visit this restaurant!
